Every lesson is private and built around one swimmer: their age, their experience, their comfort level, and what they actually want to get out of the water.

A lesson at a glance

What actually happens in the water

The same four things, every time, and the reason no two lessons look the same.

  1. 1

    Meet & assess

Getting to know each individual swimmer and their comfort level is the key to a lesson that works. Nothing starts until I know where they actually are.

  2. 2

    Set goals

We identify what this swimmer needs to work on: water confidence, survival skills, stroke technique, or competitive training.

  3. 3

    Individualized instruction

Lessons are personalized to each swimmer, factoring in age, experience, comfort level and goals. That's the whole reason they're private.

  4. 4

    Build confidence

The goal isn't just to teach someone how to swim. It's to help them become comfortable and capable in every situation in the water.

Meet your instructor

Emmy Catalan, Founder & Swim Instructor

I know what it's like to be the swimmer who's just starting out. I did not grow up swimming competitively. I started my freshman year of high school with no prior experience in sports at all.

After beginning in novice swim, I challenged myself by joining competitive club swimming. At first, keeping up with swimmers who had been training since they were young was hard, but that is where I learned the value of patience, consistency and hard work.

By sophomore year I made varsity, and eventually team captain. With four years of competitive swimming, three years of coaching, and a year of leading infant safety and acclimation classes behind me, I now feel fully equipped to bring up the next generation of swimmers.

That experience took me into lifeguarding, then coaching, then swim instruction. I'm committed to making the water not a place of fear, but a place of learning, commitment and dedication.

Water safety

Drowning is silent. That's why we teach this first.

Every lesson carries water safety inside it, whether the swimmer is eight months old or shaving seconds off a race.

  • Never swim alone
  • Active adult supervision, always
  • Safe entry and exit
  • What to do if you fall in
  • Recognizing a distressed swimmer
  • Basic survival skills

From local parents

“He went from scared to get in, to begging to stay longer.”

Emmy is an amazing swimming coach and teacher! She is absolutely wonderful with kids - she was so patient and caring and my son felt so comfortable with her! You can see how much she cares about the children she teaches! So greatful that my son has her as a teacher!

Emmy was so kind and helpful with my kids who've never swam before. My two sons went from scared to get in to begging to stay a little longer with her and keep learning how to swim. I would recommend her to anyone that wants a teacher that truly cares about helping kids and loves what she does!

Questions parents ask

Everything you're probably wondering

What ages do you teach?
Every age. Anyone wanting to learn or perfect their stroke is eligible for a lesson.
Do you teach adults?
Yes. It is never too late to learn.
Does my child need previous swim experience?
Nope. I've worked with all ages at every level, including swimmers who have never been in the water.
Do you teach infants?
Yes. This season specifically, I've worked mostly with infants.
What should swimmers bring?
Goggles, water and a towel are essential. Younger kids can bring their own toys, used at my discretion during the lesson. Competitive swimmers and adults: a scuba mask is recommended, along with fins and a kickboard.
How long are lessons?
30 or 60 minutes. See Classes & pricing for the full breakdown.
How fast will my child progress?
Every kid is different. Going at each child's own pace is the key to a lesson they can actually learn from.
Can I be in the water with my child?
Parents are heavily encouraged not to get into the water. Having your child in a distraction-free environment yields the best results.
Do you coach competitive swimmers?
Yes. If you're looking to perfect a stroke, shave down race time, or build endurance, you're looking in the right place.
What if my child is afraid of the water?
Starting slow is key to building a strong foundation. Infant acclimation is one of my most purchased classes for exactly this reason.
What's the cancellation policy?
Please give at least 48 hours notice prior to a cancellation.
Where do lessons take place?
I teach in Murrieta, Temecula and Menifee. If you're further out, feel free to shoot me a text and we'll figure it out.
