I know what it's like to be the swimmer who's just starting out. I did not grow up swimming competitively. I started my freshman year of high school with no prior experience in sports at all.
After beginning in novice swim, I challenged myself by joining competitive club swimming. At first, keeping up with swimmers who had been training since they were young was hard, but that is where I learned the value of patience, consistency and hard work.
By sophomore year I made varsity, and eventually team captain. With four years of competitive swimming, three years of coaching, and a year of leading infant safety and acclimation classes behind me, I now feel fully equipped to bring up the next generation of swimmers.
That experience took me into lifeguarding, then coaching, then swim instruction. I'm committed to making the water not a place of fear, but a place of learning, commitment and dedication.
